Erica Phillips and Yesenia Robles-Brown presented at the National Research Conference on Early Childhood in Arlington, VA. The conference brought together academic and professional researchers, early childhood program administrators and practitioners, and policymakers with the goals of identifying and disseminating research relevant to young children (birth to 8 years) and their families; encouraging collaboration among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to build evidence that informs policy and practice; and fostering discussion of research priorities, gaps, and needs.
Erica Phillips participated in a panel at the National Child Care Innovation Summit in Washington, DC. This first-of-its-kind event presented in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and U.S. Department of Commerce served as a call to action, underscoring the pivotal role of accessible, affordable child care in bolstering economic competitiveness and supporting working parents.
This groundbreaking summit brought together leaders from the public and private sector to discuss the vital role of child care for U.S. economic competitiveness.
The event spotlighted the need for investment in child care and explored child care solutions, including creative care models and policies, emerging employer approaches, and dynamic public-private partnerships aimed at tackling the child care crisis head-on. The webinar focused on investing strategies in local family childcare-led associations, networks & organizations. We explored what organizations and networks led by home-based family child care educators look like, learned about trends in research, the importance of peer support, and FCC leadership as a strategy to strengthen our early care and education ecosystem. Notably, FCC leaders and funders, drawing from their rich experience, shared their motivations for investing in formal and informal local networks of FCC education and lessons learned. We also shared recommendations for supporting and investing in FCC leadership across communities.
