In June of 2022, Congress took bold and quick action to pass the Keep Kids Fed Act (KKFA), which enabled child care programs to provide nutritious meals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, the provisions under this act expired on June 30, 2023; however, the challenges facing child care programs, particularly family child care programs, have not been alleviated. The National Association for Family Child Care joins 55 other national organizations urging Congress to extend the KKFA meal reimbursement increases for an additional year to help child care programs and schools feed children over the summer and during the upcoming school year.
